What we handle

Santa Ana electrician for duplexes, rentals and family homes

If a bathroom outlet is dead and the reset button does nothing, the cause is usually somewhere you cannot see. In a duplex or rental it can be harder still, because one wall may carry circuits for two households.

We repair outlets, fit lighting, upgrade panels and install chargers for tenants, landlords and owners alike. As an electrical contractor we are licensed and insured. Call us, and read about every area we serve if you want to see where else we work.

Local conditions

Shared walls, older duplexes and tenant access in Santa Ana

In an older Santa Ana duplex, the first question is whose circuit it is. Two units can share a service wall and still be on separate circuits, and the electrician must not cut one household off to fix the other.

That is why we ask which outlets stop working together, and who has access to the other unit, before we arrange a visit.

Field notes

The outlet that would not reset: a Santa Ana case study

✓ Completed Jul 3, 2022

What we found and fixed

In an older Santa Ana duplex a tenant’s bathroom outlet stayed dead no matter how often it was reset. Tracing found a downstream outlet wired to the wrong terminals of the protective device, left that way by an earlier replacement. We rewired it correctly, labeled the protected outlets and tested resets and trips at every point. The cable itself was sound, so no rewiring was needed.

A reset button cannot correct a line-and-load wiring error behind the device.

Our electrician from Santa Ana

Our electrician’s advice: tell us every outlet that goes dead with the one you reset. It shows us which ones share protection.

A bench grinder that dimmed the workshop light

The light in a Santa Ana workshop dimmed whenever a new grinder started up. We put the grinder on its own supply, away from the lighting, and placed the outlet so the bench stayed reachable.

Entrance lights that missed the gate

A Santa Ana entrance had mismatched lights that lit the street instead of the path. We walked the approach with the owner, chose weather-rated fittings and tested the view at night.

Coverage

Santa Ana coverage without a local office

Santa Ana is part of our Orange County service area. We do not have a Santa Ana office or Google profile, and (714) 386-1565 is a service number, not an office line.

Arrival

Same-day service is available in many cases. If not, it is usually the next day or within a few days. The call center is open 24/7 and so is emergency service.

Next steps

What to expect between your call and the finished repair

  • Call us or fill in the form. A form request gets a callback in about 5 minutes.
  • Tell us the symptoms and which outlets or lights are affected. In a duplex or rental, tell us who controls each circuit. Photos help.
  • We talk about the price and set a time.
  • The electrician finds the cause on site.
  • Free estimates apply only to panel upgrades, panel installation, breaker replacement and whole-house rewiring. Everything else is priced on the call.
  • The work is done and tested under normal use, then you get a plain explanation of what was changed.

Reviews

Feedback from customers across our Orange County profiles

Santa Ana has no Google profile of its own, so there is no Santa Ana rating to show. On our Yorba Linda profile in Orange County, a customer described a broken outlet in a child’s room that the electrician handled with care. That is a different location, and you can read more on our reviews page.

Common questions

Straight answers for Santa Ana homeowners and landlords

Why will my GFCI outlet not reset?

It may be wired to the wrong terminals, overloaded or worn out. A reset button cannot fix a wiring error, as our Santa Ana case study shows. We cover related background in our GFCI outlet guide.

Wiring and anything that needs a permit should go to a licensed electrician. If you are not sure what a handyman may do, the California Contractors State License Board can tell you.

Our repairs start from $49 per service call. Commercial electrical services start from $69 per hour and emergency electrician work from $99 per hour. These are starting prices and your cost may differ.

Yes. We ask who controls each circuit and who has access, so one unit is not left without power while we fix the other.

The words are not always used the same way. Ask any electrician for a state license, and ask what a “certified” claim refers to. Red Electricians is licensed and insured.

Red Electricians offers a standard warranty on its work. Ask your technician for the details when you call.
