Local conditions
Narrow townhouses and brick basements: what San Francisco jobs involve
On our San Francisco townhouse job, access was narrow and the basement brickwork was exposed. That favored a protected surface route for the workshop supply instead of opening the brick.
We do not state San Francisco housing-age, permit or utility facts here. Tell us the building type on the call.
Field notes
Field notes from San Francisco: a shock from a metal workbench
A shock from a metal workbench
In a narrow San Francisco townhouse, a metal workbench in the basement workshop gave a shock when one tool was plugged in. The owner had trusted the three-slot outlet as proof of grounding. Testing found a false neutral-to-ground connection and no verified equipment-ground path, left by an earlier outlet conversion. We installed a compliant grounded supply and removed the false connection, running it along an agreed surface raceway so the exposed brick stayed intact. Ground-path and protection checks passed at the bench outlets. The new grounded branch was permitted, and the owner received the inspection record.
A familiar outlet shape can conceal a protective grounding arrangement that was never verified.
Our electrician from San Francisco
Bathroom lights switched from the wrong side
The resident came in from the bedroom side and could not reach the hall switch. We routed a new switch through an accessible partition and left the finish alone.
A café refrigeration cabinet in a tight back room
We measured the cabinet position and checked its nameplate against the branch capacity before promising a supply, then routed a branch around the service access zone and labeled the disconnect.
Coverage
How we handle San Francisco requests
San Francisco is service-area coverage. We have no San Francisco office and no Google profile there. (760) 388-9446 is our general line and not a San Francisco office line. Same-day service is possible in many cases. Otherwise it is the next day or within a few days.

Does a three-slot outlet mean the wiring is grounded?
No. The shape does not prove it. The ground connection has to be tested, as in our San Francisco workbench job.
I felt a shock from metal equipment. What now?
Stop using it and call us. See our emergency electrician page. Emergency work starts from $99 per hour; your cost may differ.
Does Red have an office in San Francisco?
No. San Francisco is service-area coverage.
What does an estimate cost?
Free estimates apply only to panel upgrades, panel installation, breaker replacement and whole-house rewiring. Other work is quoted on the phone.
Are your electricians licensed?
Yes. Red Electricians is licensed and insured, and offers a standard warranty on its work. Ask your technician for the details when you call. More answers are on our FAQ page.
